Evaluations of business practices have uncovered key factors that contribute to safety and aggression in a nightlife venue. College communities in particular benefit from an analysis of social and community influences that lead to high-risk behavior such as over-consumption of alcohol and impaired driving.

The City Showcase of Pittsburgh will be used as a case study for the forum facilitators and forum participants to develop potential evaluation strategies to measure effectiveness.

  • Research conducted to-date that focuses on harm reduction and identification of high-risk behavior in licensed beverage businesses

  • Trends, gaps and opportunities in research and policy

  • How to integrate research findings into real world policies and business practices

  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of strategies proposed by research findings

  • Future research opportunities on integrating district development, social marketing, hospitality zone vibrancy and hospitality zone safety strategies
